acetylcysteine

acetylcysteine n. a drug used to break down thick mucous secretions. It is administered as an aerosol, primarily for the treatment of the respiratory diseases, such as bronchitis, and cycstic fibrosis. Side-effects may include spasm of the bronchial muscles, nausea, vomiting and fever.
