bacitracin

bacitracin n. an antibiotic produced by certain strains of bacteria and effective against a number of microorganisms. It is usually applied externally, to treat infections of the skin, eyes or nose, but can be given by mouth as an intestinal antiseptic or by injection. The principal toxic effect is on the kidneys.
