- callus
- callus n. 1. a mass of blood and *granulation tissue, containing bone-forming cells, that forms around the bone ends following a fracture. Callus formation is an essential part of the process of healthy union in a fractured bone. The callus, which is visible on X-ray as a slightly opaque area, eventually becomes calcified and modelled. 2. see callosity.
