facies n. facies expression, often a guide to a patient's state of health as well as his emotions. The typical facies seen in adenoids is the vacant look, with mouth drooping open. A Hippocratic facies is the sallow face, sagging and with listless staring eyes, that some read as the expression of approaching death.
