implant n. a substance (such as a drug) or a tissue graft inserted into the skin. 2. (in dentistry) a rigid structure that is embedded in bone or under the periosteum to provide support for replacement teeth on a *denture or a *bridge. Another type protrudes through the end of a shortened tooth root to stabilize it.
